The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has given clarification on the allegations against a teacher, Mr. Jatto Agholor George of Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Benin City, Edo State, noting that official investigation is near conclusion.
Following a thorough review by the ministry, it has been established that the case in question is not one of the sexual harassment but an issue of highhandedness in classroom management, which was initially misrepresented.
The ministry in a statement by its Director, Press & Public Relations, Mrs. Boriowo Folasade stated that, earlier on, an investigative panel set up by the school has already submitted its report, adding that the preliminary findings indicate that Mr. Jatto was on prep supervision duty at the time of the incident and was responding to a rowdy classroom situation.
“Meanwhile, the principal has been summoned to the Ministry Headquarters in Abuja for further clarification. Investigation is on going in respect of the allegations. The Ministry urged the public to exercise patience until the final investigation is conducted.
“The final findings of the investigation will be officially announced in due course. The Ministry remains committed to transparency and upholding the integrity of education institutions across the country”, the ministry said.
