The Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, and her husband, Hon.Tunji Bello, are set to be honoured with prestigious awards by the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) Worldwide at the upcoming University of Ibadan Alumni Honours and Awards Ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, 3rd December 2025 in Abuja.
Prof. Olatunji-Bello was nominated for the highly coveted “Worthy Ambassador” Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership, exceptional service, and significant contributions to academic excellence and institutional growth during her remarkable tenure as Vice Chancellor of LASU since 2021. This award celebrates alumni who exemplify purposeful leadership and have made impactful contributions to both national development and higher education in Nigeria.
Her husband, Hon. Tunji Bello, will be honoured with the “Meritorious Service” Award, acknowledging his exemplary leadership and dedication to public service. His impactful roles, including Commissioner in Lagos State at various times, Secretary to the Lagos State Government, and current Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), highlight his unwavering commitment to public accountability, institutional strengthening, and governance transparency.
The awards ceremony will be Chaired by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, with special honourees such as the Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, His Excellency, Senator George Akume, among other distinguished leaders.
