A delegation from Renewed Hope Global has applauded the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for its strategic efforts in advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through accessible and sustainable education financing.
The commendation was given during a courtesy visit to the Fund’s headquarters on Friday 5th December, 2025, where the delegation described NELFUND’s reforms as “decisive, transparent and aligned with global best practices.”
While the team commended the MD/CE of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, for the significant strides NELFUND has made, they acknowledged the Fund’s rapid progress, nationwide engagement efforts, and the growing impact of its operations on students and institutions across the country.
Speaking during the visit, the leader of the delegation, Prince Ade Omole, said NELFUND had demonstrated an exceptional commitment to expanding opportunities for Nigerian youths through its nationwide student loan scheme. According to him, the Fund’s digital-driven application process, expanded institutional onboarding, and strong stakeholder engagement reflect the administration’s vision of inclusive development.
“We are impressed by the pace and clarity with which NELFUND is implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda in the education sector. The agency is not just processing loans; it is building a transparent, accountable and student-centred system that gives every Nigerian child the hope of a brighter future,” he said.
The delegation noted that improved access to education remains a critical pillar of national growth, adding that NELFUND’s work is helping to reduce financial barriers and strengthen human capital development.
Responding, the Managing Director of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, expressed appreciation for the recognition, reaffirming the Fund’s commitment to ensuring that every eligible Nigerian student benefits from the loan scheme.
He noted that the Fund continues to expand institutional onboarding, deepen technology infrastructure, and collaborate with universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and student bodies across the country.
“Our mandate is clear: to make education accessible, equitable, and sustainable. This commendation encourages us to keep doing more to fulfil the Renewed Hope Agenda and empower millions of young Nigerians,” Sawyerr said.
He added that NELFUND remained committed to transparency, continuous improvement, and nationwide sensitisation to ensure that students across all regions are aware and able to benefit from the scheme.
The Renewed Hope Global delegation also pledged continued partnership and support for NELFUND, noting that education financing is central to achieving long-term national transformation under the Renewed Hope administration.
During the engagement, the MD/CE invited some NELFUND representatives to join the meeting including the Director, Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi; Senior Manager, Strategic Communications, Mr. Folayemi Ogunniya and Technical Assistant to the MD/CE, Mr. Nasir Ayitogo.
The Renewed Hope Global team expressed their desire for deeper collaboration with NELFUND and extended an invitation for the Fund to join their global efforts in highlighting the achievements of the PBAT administration. They emphasized the importance of unified communication and partnership in showcasing the administration’s reforms and progress to both local and international audiences.
