The Society of Occupational and Environmental Health Physicians of Nigeria (SOEHPON) has announced the winners of its 2025 Media Excellence Awards, recognising outstanding journalists whose reportage significantly advanced awareness of Occupational and Environmental Health (OEH) in Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO), SOEHPON, Dr. Charles Babajide Onigbogi.
The statement said following careful review of nominations and supporting materials, the Awards Committee proudly presented this year’s winners across three categories.
Cynthia Okere of Voice of Nigeria (VON) won the first category (Radio/Social Media) with winning entry “SOEHPON Calls for Media Collaboration to Improve Workplace Safety” published on June 28, 2025.
According to SOEHPON, Cynthia produced an original and engaging feature that effectively positioned SOEHPON as a leading voice on workplace safety. The piece amplified the Society’s objectives, reached a wide audience and encouraged collaborative action between media and OEH professionals.
Eucheria Clinton of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA News24) won the second category (Television) with winning entry “Safety and Health at Workplaces” aired on April 28, 2025.
SOEHPON stated that Eucheria anchored a well-structured panel discussion with expert contributors and incisive questioning. The broadcast was technically strong, highly informative, and raised public understanding of occupational health and regulatory gaps in the workplace.
While Clifford Ejenavi of Nigerian Impact won the third category (Print/Online) with winning entry “SOEHPON President charts new path for safer workplaces ahead of 2025 conference” published on October 1, 2025.
SOEHPON said Mr. Ejenavi’s in-depth interview and analysis were creative, detailed and highly relevant to national OEH discourse. The story provided clarity on SOEHPON’s priorities and contributed to public and professional engagement ahead of the 2025 conference.
The SOEHPON Media Excellence Awards celebrates journalists and media practitioners whose work advances Occupational and Environmental Health in Nigeria by promoting accurate reporting, public education, and constructive collaboration between media and health professionals.
