Two Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Global Vision Support International and Springtime Development Foundation are set to provide free medical care in Osun State, Nigeria.
The initiative is part of Global Vision Support International’s ongoing efforts to provide healthcare services to those in need.
Since 2017, the NGO has carried out 140 outreaches and provided free medical care to over 150,000 patients in Nigeria, performing over 2,000 surgeries, including eye, fibroid, hernia, and lump removals.
According to the President of Global Vision Support International, Prof. John Sotunsa, the upcoming medical outreach program is scheduled to take place in April, 2025.
He explained that the programme will be held at Inisha town and at the Ede Town Hall respectively.
Prof. Sotunsa said the target at the forthcoming free medical outreach is to provide free consultations and treatment to 2,000 persons, glasses to 1200 persons, 50 fibroid surgeries, 100 hernia repair and lump removal and 50 cataract surgeries while dental services will be provided for 100 persons, too.
According to Prof. Sotunsa, who is also the Provost of the Benjamin Carson College of Health and Medical Sciences, Babcock University, those in need are urged to visit the designated centres on the specified dates. He said it was important to note that those requiring surgery will need to provide their lab test results while blood would be provided by participants if needed. “The treatment will, however, be on a first-come, first-served basis”, he added.
