Niger Delta University, six other institutions acknowledges over N314.9m students loan receipt from NELFUND

Seven more tertiary institutions in Nigeria have acknowledged the sum of N314,965,520 being students loan disbursement to them by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as at August 23, 2025. The institutions are Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State; Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua; Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Oyo State; College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia, Nasarawa State; Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan-Waya; Gombe State College of Education and Legal Studies, Nafada and College of Nursing Science, Katsina State.
In their respective acknowledgement letters available to Nigerian Impact as at August 23, 2025, they all appreciated and commended President Bola Tinubu and the Management of NELFUND for the initiative.
Breakdown of the sum of N314,965,520.00
In a letter to NELFUND dated August 12, 2025, the Vice Chancellor of Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, Prof. Allen Agih, acknowledged receipt of the sum of N156,270,00.00 only being loan disbursement for 1,420 students of the University on the 5th of August, 2025.
In another letter dated February 20, 2025, Prof. Agih acknowledged receipt of the sum of N82,640,000.00 only being loan disbursement for 760 students of the University on the 11th of February, 2025. The Vice Chancellor extended heartfelt appreciation to NELFUND for the support to students of the University.
The Rector of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Dr. Moses Umobong, in a letter to NELFUND on 5th August, 2025, acknowledged receipt of the sum of N8,675,550.00 only being loan for 141 students for batch ‘A’ of 2024/2025 academic session on 4th July, 2025. While the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Oyo State, Engr. T. A. Abdul-Hameed, in a letter to NELFUND on August 8, 2025, acknowledged receipt of the sum of N9,142,960.00 only being tuition loan for 78 students on 31st July, 2025. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the Management of NELFUND for the well targeted and guarded initiative.
Also in a letter to NELFUND dated 11th August, 2025, the Registrar, College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Nasarawa State, Umar Tijani, acknowledged receipt of the sum of N4,448,200.00 only being the first batch of loan disbursement for 70 students of the College on the 24th July, 2025 for 2024/2025 academic session. While the Provost of Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan-Waya, Dr. A. A. Aku, in a letter to NELFUND on August 12, 2025, acknowledged receipt of the sum of N21,088,500.00 only being institutional fees loan for 307 students under second batch of 2024/2025 academic session. He appreciated the MD/CEO of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr and his hard-working staff for their tireless effort toward the achievement of the success recorded so far. He equally appreciated President Tinubu for his humanitarian and creative initiative.
The Provost, College of Nursing Science, Katsina State, Dr. Aminu Bello Abdullahi, in his letter to NELFUND dated 12th August, 2025, acknowledged receipt of the sum of N32,705,300.00 being loan for 397 students under 2024/2025 academic session. While in a letter to NELFUND on 11th August, 2025, NELFUND Desk Officer, for the Ag. Provost, Gombe State College of Education and Legal Studies, Nafada, Danladi Aliyu, acknowledged receipt of the sum of N665,000.00 only being first loan disbursement for 30 students of the College on 31st July, 2025.
The Provost appreciated the timely intervention and support which according to him has greatly eased the financial burden on students and contributed to the smooth running of academic activities.
