By Clifford Ejenavi

The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, has taken the Fund’s sensitisation campaign to the Institute of Technology, Igbesa, Ogun State, on Tuesday January 20, 2026, as part of efforts to deepen awareness and boost students’ access to the federal government’s education loan scheme.

During the interactive session, Mr. Sawyerr conveyed profound appreciation to the Rector, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye and the institute’s management for their gracious hospitality and the enabling environment provided for the delegation. He reiterated that NELFUND has been sufficiently capitalized to deliver on its mandate, emphasizing President Bola Tinubu’s resolute directive that no eligible Nigerian student should be deprived of the opportunity to pursue higher education on account of financial constraints.

He reiterated that the Federal Government, under the Renewed Hope Agenda, remains committed to investing in human capital development by removing financial barriers that often hinder students from completing their education. He urged students of the institute to take advantage of the loan scheme and avoid dropping out of school due to lack of funds.

In his response, the Rector expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Tinubu for conceiving and actualizing such a transformative initiative. He noted with satisfaction the impressive volume of student applications already received and awaiting disbursement, and further encouraged prospective beneficiaries to avail themselves of the loan scheme.

This engagement therefore reaffirmed NELFUND’s steadfast dedication to its mission of serving the Nigerian people, advancing educational equity, and contributing meaningfully to national development.

Mr. Sawyerr was accompanied by distinguished delegation of the Fund comprising the General Counsel/Board Secretary, Mrs. Funmi Alagbada; Assistant Director, Facility & Fleet, Mr. Tolutayo Olajolo; Senior Manager, Strategic Communications, Mr. Fola Ogunniya; Technical Assistant to the MD/CE, Mr. Nasir Ayitogo; Personal Assistant to the MD/CE, Mr. Yomi Gbadamosi; Legal Officer, Mrs. Ife Akoniyon and Personal Assistant to the GC, Ms. Tinuke Bello.
