In celebration of the 2024 International Teachers’ Day, Colleges of Education Academy Staff Union (COEASU) will confer on the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Arch. Sonny Echono, the prestigious Legacy Award for Education Advancement and induction into COEASU Hall of Fame.

In a letter to the TETFUND Executive Secretary, signed by the President of COEASU, Dr. Smart Olugbe, the Union said this recognition is a testimonial to Echono’s exceptional leadership, vision, and dedication to excellent in education, particularly his positive disposition to Teacher Education right from the time he was the Permanent Secretary, Federal Minister of Education and now as the Executive Secretary to TETFund.

“The Union appreciates your instrumental roles in the actualization of the Dual Mandate, which has enabled Colleges of Education to award both NCE and Degree certificates and your tireless efforts, exemplary leadership, and advocacy that have been pivotal in shaping the future of Teacher Education in Nigeria, your giant strides up new opportunities for students and educators alike.

“The Legacy Award for Education Advancement is a testament to your dedication, vision, and commitment to excellence. We are honored to recognize your achievements and celebrate your legacy”, COEASU said.

The award ceremony will take place on Thursday 4th October, 2024 in Abuja, the Federal Capital.
