Six more institutions acknowledges over N1.1b receipt from NELFUND

Six more tertiary institutions in Nigeria have acknowledged the sum of N1,121,44,750.00 being students loan disbursement for 10,703 students by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as at Friday September 12, 2025. The six institutions are Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State; Northwest University, Kano; Sokoto State University, Sokoto; Federal College of Education (Tech), Gombe State; Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, and Emmanuel Alayade University, Oyo State.
In their respective acknowledgement letters available to Nigerian Impact as at September 12, 2025, they all expressed gratitude and appreciation and commended President Bola Tinubu and the Management of NELFUND for this impactful initiative.
The breakdown of the N1,121,44,750.00 showed that the Director General/CEO of Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State, Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, in a letter to NELFUND dated 2nd September, 2025, acknowledged receipt of the sum of N3,390,000.00 only on 22nd August, 2025 being registration fee for 61 students for 2025/2026 academic session. While the Vice Chancellor, Northwest University, Kano, Prof. Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, in a letter to NELFUND, acknowledged receipt of the sum of N281,917,950.00 only on August 28, 2025 being registration fee for 4,675 students for 2024/2025 academic session.
Also, the Vice Chancellor of Sokoto State University, Prof. M. B. Yerima, in a letter to NELFUND dated 20th August, 2025 acknowledged receipt of the sum of N23,908,200.00 only on the 4th July, 2025 being institutional registration fee for 471 students of Batch B. And in another letter to NELFUND dated 1st September, 2025 acknowledged receipt of the sum of N74,774,000.00 only on 21st August, 2025 being registration fee for 1,455 students of Batch C.
The Deputy Provost of Federal College of Education (Tech), Gombe State, Dr. Mohammed Gazali Abdulhamid, in a letter to NELFUND dated 2nd September, 2025 acknowledged receipt of the sum of N32,142,000.00 only on 18th August, 2025 being loan for 750 students. While the Bursar of Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, Sama’una Nuhu, in a letter to NELFUND on 29th August, 2025 acknowledged receipt of the sum of N43,467,300.00 only on August 28, 2025 being loan for 924 students.
The Registrar and Secretary to Council of Emmanuel Alayade University, Oyo State, Mrs. Olubunmi Siju’Asunmo, in a letter dated 27th August, 2025 acknowledged receipt of the sum of N683,751.500.00 only on 22nd August, 2025 being loan for 2,367 students.
From NELFUND’s daily dashboard, so far, 482,342 students in 225 tertiary institutions across Nigeria have benefited from the students loan scheme, with a total sum of over N92.871billion successfully disbursed.
According to the MD/CEO of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, the Fund is committed to making education accessible by breaking the financial barriers that stop dreams, adding that NELFUND remains committed to ensuring transparency, accessibility, and efficiency as the process continues. He called on all stakeholders to join in supporting the vision of equitable education for all in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
