WAEC begins registration for WASSCE for Private Candidates 2025 – Second Series, see official guidelines

The result and certificate of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) are the most recognised and acceptable education credentials in Nigeria and around the world.

For those who have finished secondary school in Nigeria but unable to get desired results now have the opportunity to achieve it. This diet gives you the opportunity to make up your desired results needed to further your education in tertiary institutions whether in Nigeria or abroad.

This diet is the same as the popularly called General Certificate Examination (GCE) in those days.

INTRODUCTION

This is to inform the general public and intending candidates that registration for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2025 – Second Series will start on June 09, 2025. WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2025–Second Series would be computer based (CB-WASSCE).

Thirty-Six (36) subjects will be available for the examination. Intending candidates are advised to visit the Council’s corporate website–www.waecnigeria.org to confirm available examination towns and subjects before obtaining the registration PIN.

REGISTRATION FOR THE EXAMINATION

After obtaining the Registration PIN, candidates should log on to www.waeconline.org.ng for registration.  Candidates should also note that the registration procedure has been designed to accommodate biometric features that will be used for validation at the examination centres.

REGISTRATION PERIOD

The registration period is from Monday, June 09, 2025 to Friday, August 22, 2025.

MODE OF PAYMENT

Candidates are expected to pay a non-refundable registration fee of Twenty-Seven Thousand Naira (N27,000) only, at branches of the following banks or any of the WAEC Office or accredited agents and obtain the Registration PIN:

5. WALK-IN-CANDIDATES            

Candidates, who wish to register for the examination after the close of entries may be accommodated as “Walk-in-Candidates”, provided they register not later than twenty four hours to the scheduled time of the paper(s) they intend to write. The “Walk-in-Candidates” fee is Forty Five Thousand Naira (N45,000) only.

CANDIDATES WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Candidates with special needs will also register online like other candidates but they must clearly state their impairments e.g. visual, low vision, spastic, speech, hard to hear, etc.

WHERE TO REGISTER

Candidates can visit accredited cybercafés, WAEC offices and “WAEC REGISTRATION POINTS” nearest to them for PIN purchase and registration.

COMPLETION OF REGISTRATION

Candidates MUST conclude registration within two weeks of first access to the website during the registration period. They should ensure that their names, gender, passport photographs, dates of birth and subjects are correct. They are also to print the photocard, as evidence of successful registration, which will serve as identification during the examination. The Result Checker PIN will also be on the photocard.  The acceptable fingerprint Scanner is UareU digitalPersona fingerprint device.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The examination will be computer-based (CB-WASSCE). The objective papers will be answered on the Computer, while answers for the essay and test of practical examinations will have the questions displayed on the screen and the candidates will write their answers on answer booklets.

There will be an online Mock Examination for interested candidates who registered for the examination and want to familiarize themselves with the testing environment. The date and modalities for the mock examinations will be communicated to candidates via SMS, emails, and all our social media platforms.

(3) Candidates should note that paid registration fee is not refundable.

(4) Candidates should continue to check the website for the examination Timetable.

(5) Entries must be uploaded with passport photographs captured with digital cameras. The specification of the digital camera should be Microsoft HD 3000. The passport photographs must be of good quality BLACK & WHITE OR COLOUR (JPEG File only, 275 by 314 pixels with 72 dbi resolution) and with a CONTRASTING BACKGROUND. The passport photograph must be minimum of 7kb and maximum of 15kb in size. There must be no obstructive items.

Please note that the submission of a defaced or poor-quality photograph by a candidate would automatically invalidate the entry of the candidate.

(6) Candidates should study the Regulations and Syllabuses for the examination which they can download from WAEC website (www.waeconline.org.ng) using the Registration PIN.

(7) Candidates must come to the examination halls in mufti.  No professional uniform and weapons of any kind will be allowed in the examination halls.

(8) The entire results of candidates who sit the examination in more than one centre will be cancelled.

(9) Smoking is not allowed in the examination hall.

(10) Any candidate that comes into the examination hall with mobile phone(s) and /or any other electronic gadget(s) will have his or her entire results cancelled.

(11) Candidates must ensure that their entries are correctly completed before uploading as the Council will not be held responsible for errors in candidates’ particulars.

Request for amendments will NOT BE entertained on any information which a candidate voluntarily gives at the point of registration.

(12) Candidates must come into the examination hall with their original Photocard.

(13) Candidates who engage in examination malpractice will not only have their results cancelled, but may be prosecuted.

(14) Candidates must ensure they provide valid email and telephone number(s) during registration.

(15) WAEC resources that aid preparation for the examination include: WAEC compiled past questions and, answers books, e-learning and Chief Examiners’ Report.
